Nice theory... But, err, Libby looks nothing like that lady...
At all...
She probably looks more like Desmond in that photo...

Meh, who knows. Maybe she was in a terrible fire, started by Charlie, which burnt her face; which Jack fixed. And now she looks like Libby.
Now that's a theory...

Libby definitely lied to Hurley (heh heh - Fibby). But I don't think she's one of the Others, if only because it would be poor storytelling. Do the writers want to keep writing yet another "Other infiltration" story? I doubt it. Libby might have something sinister, but it also might be another red herring. She could possibly know him from the psych ward and she told an innocent lie so he wouldn't feel more self-conscious than he already does.

I recall one of the producers stating that he and the writing staff are constantly surprised at how quickly the fans are picking up the clues they leave. I think this will lead them to want to put in more distractions and such. What better way to throw people off the trail? Rather than making the clues they put in more convoluted than they already are, they keep people guessing about less significant stuff. More people worrying about Libby means less brainpower applied to solving the actual riddle.

i posted this on another forum, and i really DO hate to bump a 2-month old post, but i just so happened to be watching this episode on my 'puter again, trying to pick up on any hurley/libby interactions, and noticed something kind of strange.  when libby tries on the purple halter top, and tells hurley to turn around after she has it on, you hear a few seconds of a song in the background.  that song, i believe, is Papa Loves Mambo by Perry Como.  i originally thought the title was Mama Loves Mambo, so i did a wikipedia search on that.

did you know that very song title is also an episode title of The Honeymooners??  and according to that source, the sitcom's episode in question was #23 in the series.

--> Mama Loves Mambo on Wikipedia <--

i don't know what relevance, if any, it has ... but it's a pretty weird coincidence.

23 hah?  Interesting... I dunno whether it has anything to do with the seriesi, it may be a coincidence, but it is great research.  I would have never thought of looking for the episode number.  Hell, I barely think to begin with.

And karma to you for not opening another topic when there was a perfectly good topic already opened -- even if old.  And Welcome to the site!

Well now we know that Libby used to be in the same mental home as Hurley, but that is absolutely great for noticing that!
