According to other sites, she said "I'm not the only one."

That was why Mikhail went off was to find the other one. I'm guessing she's with Penny and it was a rescue, but as you recall in the Season 2 finale they told her "we found him". So, she's there to rescue Desmond, not the 815 survivors.

Actually, in the Season 2 finale, the Portuguese guys said "We found it."

There is no way that we know of that Penny could have known about the magnetic anomaly, specifically that it would lead her to Desmond.

I take "it" to mean the place where Desmond is. Goes to my theory of her father running the show, ie Dharma/Others, and he caused Desmond to end up on this island. He seems fairly wealthy and could set this whole thing up.
Maybe she forced her father to tell her about this anomaly, and Desmond is all she's looking for. Now, question is, if Sayid can get the phone to work, will they be able to call home? And what's the deal with old time radio from that one episode? Are they in a time-warp?

I am willing to believe that Mr. Widmore could OWN the island, but the odds of him controlling the weather that marooned Desmond, and all of the subsequent events, seems a little sketchy.

And as far as "it" was concerned, I'm pretty sure they just meant the island OR the source of the magnetic anomaly (conveniently, this is the island, although they may not have known specifically that it was an island).

And radio signals bounce within the atmosphere, and take a long time to travel. Sayid explained that it was likely they had just picked up an old radio signal. They are not in a time warp.

Have you ever seen Contact? Where the aliens sent back blueprints for a machine encoded with a speech Hitler gave in the 40s? Well, the message arrived back in the 90s, because of the delay in the signals travel. The same thing happened with the island, except within the atmosphere. Signals like that bounce about the ionosphere all the time.

In case you havn't noticed 4 pages later we have be discussin  yes we wouldn't even hafta go as far as radio signals bouncing in the atmosphere, there are still lots of oldie stations in the world, it could have even been pickin up my sirus radio 50's channel who the hell knows for sure LOL but I do believe Penny got something out of her father or maybe even came across something she wasn't supposed to and was looking for it hoping that it led her to Des...

I was just thinking the way they throw clues around, I thought the oldies station was strange. And seeing is how I'm a communication specialist in the military, I'm quite familiar with radio signals bouncing (we use troposcatter quite frequently). I know from personal experience picking up signals from Mexico while living in the St. Louis Missouri area. Anyway, I think the key here is there is someone else, and whomever they were going to rescue, they found the island. That also indicates to me it is stationary, unlike some theories of a moving island (because of Eko's brother's plane being there). Now, when Desmond tried to get away before, he sailed around in circles, and eventually returned. But, Michael was told to head a certain direction. That leads me to believe the island is magical or magnetic or whatever. Ok, I just realized I have no point beyond the fact I think the island is stationary.

You are mistaken. Mandarin and Cantonese.

I seem to recall that there are at least three Chinese dialects, those two being very widely spoken.

I often speak to chinese women who want to practice their english, a little before easter was "Tomb Sweeping Day" or "Qing Ming Jie", much discussion took place at the other end of the conversation before they understood !

Possibly, but remember, Jack was listening to the same tune (Glenn Miller's "Moonlight Serenade") in the "modern day".  Big band will always have a certain niche popularity for its nostalgia value.

There's no way she knew who Mikhail was, so I doubt she was saying it specifically to him. She was just trying out all the languages she knew to try and communicate with the people around her. Unfortunately, Mikhail was the only one who understood the language she spoke in that instance....

...and this could be why Mikhail is so '...valuable to us...'  (said Ben).  He's multi-lingual...
