Yes, the shark/fish was out of water, also he painted an eskimo with fishes also out of the water.  To me it meant that he being outside of the island made him feel out of his element and he felt he needed to return.  Yep, reading too much into it, I know.

Jorge Garcia was on The Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack, and he said that he just tried to think of the most opposite of an island that he could think of and started painting it. The director liked it and shot it over his shoulder. So, you correctly deduced it was a psychological thing, just an incorrect diagnosis.

Why does Abaddon keep saying they're all dead? It was his group that planting the fake right? And obviously some Losties get rescued, so doesn't that go against Abaddon's plans, since there were survivors?

The way he kept saying that seemed kind of like the whole republican ideal of "There is NO GLOBAL WARMING. What we are experiencing is climate change." Sort of a  denial of what's really going on thing.

if these people (Oceanic, Dharma, Hanso) are so bad ass why haven't they just killed the "Oceanic 6". Why tolerate the fact that they could spill the beans at any given moment. I can only think that they are needed for some other purpose?

Good question... maybe we'll find out that Penny has something to do with this.  After her conversation with Charlie, who is obviously not dead, she 'tells the world' she has found survivors so they can't just kill them.

More importantly then why didn't the oceanic 6 just get killed upon returning is the question of why it took Abbodon so long to question Hurley... It seems like he's already been in contact with Jack... Why didn't he basically go rapid fire once all of them returned?

Sorry, I wasn't clear... I mean when Charlie talked to her before he died, and that we know he wasn't a figment of her imagination or something... she knows they're alive.
