Yes, something to keep him awake.

He's not gonna get a lot of sleep if he's gotta input the numbers every 108 minutes.

It's insulin. He's just had to get used to waking up every 108 minutes when he sleeps.

There are dire psychological conserquences from not getting a solid 8 hours sleep for a long peroid. The drug could be some form of antidepressant or mood stabaliser to make the symptoms less apparent.

Why insulin? It's not mentioned anywhere that Desmond is diabetic. And Desmond took over the duties in "the Swan" after crashing on the island, not because he was posted there originally. Why would Dharma put Insulin there instead of Asthma inhalers or Benadryl or something else?

The fact that Desmond takes the injector and a bunch of the drug with him is significant. A drug to keep those posted at "the Swan" awake/stable would make sense, but it wouldn't make sense for Desmond to take them with him when he left, especially since he believed the computer was broken and whatever terrible thing that would happen if the numbers weren't entered was going to happen.

A vaccination for a virus... meningitis? would make sense. The quarantine mark on the hatch could be related. Perhaps an outbreak was the "incident" mentioned later.

Ok, lets take a breather here.

Whatever Deasmond injects himself with, it's not going to be any form of vaccine. The nature of a vaccine is that is a lesser strain of a disease which provides the body with the biological information it needs to produce antibodies to combat the disease. If a vaccine was constantly injected every day over a period of time then it would eventually overwhelm the system and kill whoever was taking it.

So, in conclusion: IT'S NOT A VACCINEWink

We don't know he takes it everyday--just that he took it on the day that the Hatch was blown, and that he took about a dozen bottles with him. It could be assumed that he took it everyday, but it's not a fact.

Maybe not a vaccine, though.

Jack saw Desmond stuffing the bottles in his bag, you gotta imagine he'd be checking them out at some point-- strange that he hasn't already.

Even if not every day a vaccine can't be taken more than once in something like a 12 week period or you risk developing the disease you are attempting to immunise yourself from. There are differnt dates for differnt vaccines, combined vaccines being the longest and injested vaccines the shortest, but I've never heard of a peroid of less than 2 weeks.

Also, with all the complications that we know can arise from certain vaccines, I doubt any medical professional could leave someone to inject themself with it. It's too risky.

the numbers are written everywhere

before they got on the plane they must have been connected sumhow by someone

why were there only 40(i think) surviors and non of the others survived

maybe they were injected or poised by something or someone before they got on the plane and the trick was to see if they survive a crash as of a plan.

i mean hanso is all about developing out of the ordinary experiments for the future of our human race

maybe thats why they are also having illusions and seeing each other when there meant to be sumwhere else

i really dont knw, this is just a theory Roll Eyes
