I have a hunch that the woman was Claire's mother.  If you look at the image from the episode "fire and water" there is a dream scene where Claire is next to a woman (kinda looked like the woman who Jack's dad was visiting) who is with her holding a baby wrapped in cloth. 

I suppose this doesn't mean she is the mother....in fact, it may be worth checking images from the scenes where Claire was signing adoption papers...could be the woman trying to adopt.

Just a thought.

Maybe she's Cindy's mother.  If Christian Shepherd is alive and well, on the island, and running things, and we also know CIndy was abducted, maybe they're palling around together.

I remember something with a friend of Claire who ask something about her mother, if she came or not, maybe someone can find the dialogue, there might be a hint in there.

I thought the woman in fire and water next to claire was charlie's mum... I must check back on that!  I think Jack Sheppard's daughter was likely on the plane too -- but not sure the connection will be that straightforward -- I think it is one of those yet undiscovered background losties...

jacks dad and ann went to a house in last ep and he tried to get in the house to see "his daughter" the mom kinda looks like claire and jacks dad did say that he'd had an affair!!! what ya think?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh

You're right the woman looked a lot like Claire, technically it'd make them half-brothers and sisters then.

Lol humm interesting concept, I can see what your saying about the woman looking like claire, that sorta came to mind when I watched it  Wink

I seriously doubt Claire and Jack would ever hook up lol theres as much chemistry between those two as there is between Hurley and Sawyer  Grin

Well, I think it's going to be either Claire or Cindy who was christians daughter, since they are both australian. I suppose we will be able to tell if it's Claire or not when we see her flashback in 'further instructions', as it mentions we get to see a hippy-ish couple on their 50's, called Mike and Jan who I reckon will be Claire's parents. So we can tell if 'Jan' is the same woman that Christian argued with!

Just a though....   could Jack and Kate be brother and sister?
 
The woman in the doorway does look a bit like Kate's Mum and the house is very similar to the house that Kate burnt down.
