Having no evidence to support this whatsoever, I'll just give my conjecture:

From the moment I first saw Walt wet when he appeared to Shannon, my first thought was that he was in some sort of cryonics chamber. Don't know why, but some of the Hanso Foundations areas of study lend credence to that guess. I have since thought that it could be some sort of isolation/sensory-deprivation chamber, perhaps in order to force him to use his paranormal abilities. Again, totally just guesses, but can see how they are both possibilities, even if remote.

By the way, and I know this is the wrong thread, but does anyone know what happened to the TheHansoFoundation.org site? Or am I getting the name wrong? It was the one that showed the Foundations fields of study.

I agree with Vany- it looks like a door with DHARMA across it.  I think this is the hatch that studies "remote viewing"- being able to project yourself to people in other places.  The door could be their symbol for this, like stepping through a portal/stargate kind of thing.  So if this is the "portal hatch", it explains why Walt's being kept/studied there for his abilities, and it could be the reason they're bringing Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley there- to study how they are able to see these "remote" projected images.

That would explaing Walt appearing to Shannon in the forest. Also the whispers?

Any thoughts?

It all makes me think of the phrase "Open(ing) the doors of perception"  which I think is a Buddhist thing

Also the title of a book by Aldous Huxley, which is somewhat about using psychedelic drugs to seek out unexplored ways of thinking.  It was an inspiration for well, just about everybody who does psychedelic drugs.

I think the logo on the door is a square or container with waves on the middle

That´s why I think the ferry is inside

Or maybe there are glass containers with water inside (that would explain walt being wet when he showed up to shannon
It was raining when he showed himself to Shannon and Sayid!

If the Swan isn't a Skinner Box, it might have something to do with the mysterious "incident". It is probably connected to pushing the button.

Have the Losties or Rousseau travelled around the entire circumfrence of the island ?

I just had an idea that it could be a peninsula of some remote country and the doors could lead out of the experiment area and back into society, a sort of cross between The Village and The Truman Show.

Any Thoughts ? Huh

at one point in season 1, Sayid started to travel around the island only to get caught by Rousseau. Rousseau had a well detailed map of part of the island she knew (even though it was in french), but no one has really explored the whole island yet.

Intresting idea about the penninsula, but that might be a little too weird, even for Lost's standards.

That is a very good idea, a door back to civilization.  I think I like. Grin

So what, the Others let them out to become one with the island? But in 3 minutes, Clue threatens to put Walt in "the room" which might suggest that the children are locked up sometimes.

I think it is a door and it says dharma in the middle  -- no waves-- check this thread for more info but that is a spoiler thread so be warned-- http://www.dharmasecrets.com/forum/index.php?topic=2617.0.  It could be a door to freedom (thus something to escape) or a door to knowledge ( a state of the art lab).  Just my thoughts!

I agree i reckon the image is a door that says dharma on it. See for your self :

the door looks a lot different to all the other ones, like more important, say a "head office" the other one which looked important was the medical station, but that was sunk into the ground, this one looks more important.

the locks on the doors look like they are meant to keep something from coming out of the doors
