Spoiler (hover to show)

I have a feeling Desmon might just use his new talent to save himself and get to Penny. Remember what Boone said in Locke's acid trip.

"He's taking care of himself."

...or something of that nature.

Also I find it odd that in that scene Desmond was hanging out with 3 flight attendants...all 3 were identical triplets. Odd.

No

Boone said "forget it, He's helping himself."

And by his tone I took it to mean 'you can't rely on this guy...'

Sorry, but people read so deeply into things but don't bother checking the details. that's how absurd theories begin.

agreed on the flight attendants tho...could be something there.

and just a note on the flashbacks being from the past few months - don't forget we saw Sawyer as a kid.

I did say "or something OF THAT NATURE."

And I don't read deeply into things. I am just putting an idea out there. Let gabi take what I say and make a big deal about it. It isn't my job to that nonsense.

Also I don't have the time to do research. Just make sure you correct the "absurd" shit I might post.

I took it to say he was going in a different direction than the Losties, his own rescue attempt or something like that. I don't think he will be against them, just seperate.

Desmond also places a gold club above charlie and claires hut for an unknown reason until later on lightening strikes the hut and the gold club is used as a conductor for the lightening. I think this is proof that desmond can tell the future. As somebody stated Desmond may have been able to tell the future before he came to the island, but surely not as well. Maybe the implosion enhanced everybodys skills? Lockes leadership? Charlies parenting skills?

what i don't get is the nature of his future telling. can he imagine the things as they happen, or are they just inklings, or whether he is conscious of them or not.

It might be just me, but i'm sure Desmonds stubble is way bigger than before the EM implosion. He's had time to grow it in a day?Huh!!!!

And his hair seemed longer too.  Fits into another whack theory I had (and shared on lostpedia).  I suppose it's because I am always trying to look for a science-fiction explanation over a fantasy explanation, so I prefer "bending in space/time" over "clairvoyance."  In any event, I had this idea that Desmond is going backwards in--- or jumping around in--- time, 108 minutes at a time.  That there's still some kind of 108-minute residual periodicity and it's quantum-leaping Desmond around in time.  So he didn't "predict" Locke giving the speech--- he had already heard it, from his perspective.

And, he's been of course experimenting with trying to change things (like the lightning strike).

I thought of this because of his protests, "You don't want to know what happened to me!!" as if he was undergoing something really terrible.  Being able to see the future didn't seem all that terrible.

I also like the poster on lostpedia who compared what Desmond is going through to the character Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen.  That was *exactly* what I was thinking at one point too.  Although I would hate to think the writers would be that derivative.

Interesting point. Could it be symbolic of Past, Present and Future? Just trying to brainstorm a little here.
