So I watched again, and the exchange between Eddie and Mike made me think that Eddie wore that shirt deliberately in order to get into a conversation with Mike, increasing his chances to 'bond' with the family so he would be accepted more readily.  Wearing that band's T-shirt would automatically get a former band member to open up.

wheather the band is fictional or not I want to know why they put it in the show like is it for fun or does it have some like metaphorical meaning or whatever

why has it been brought up many times

Like Desmond Likes Charles Dickens
and the first episode of the third season is called A tale of two cites( of coarse eveyone knows its a charles dickens book)

so does geronimo jackon have a deamer meaning or is it just a fun thing the writers made up

I think it's a playoff the actual group Geronimo Black, a group somehow connected to the MOthers of Invention. They had a song, "Other Man", which is how Ethan Rom was described in the Oceanic Airlines first season website.

While the website for the band was up, it indicated the band was formed at the U of Michigan (shades of the DeGroots). Whether it's significant or not, it's a fun detail to trace, and points up yet another theme of the show--synchronicity--everything's connected.

Anyone know where we can listen to the one Geronimo Jackson song they've played within Lost? (Like on phone while waiting for the Hanso Foundation). ?

Thanks for mentioning that renae, I guess that's where the rumor Rob and I heard got started.  I'm pretty sure that the Geronimo Jackson website was fanmade though, so anything on there shouldn't be taken as canon.

True.  According to the "back story" they're now a San Francisco band, as stated by the producers' podcasts.

christ, Geronimo Jackson are a very well known real band.
who the fuck isnt smart enough to type them into wikipedia and find out about them anyway?

Errr, that gives you ~

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_music_groups

and Lostpedia gives you ~

http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Geronimo_Jackson

Lostpedia mentions the Woodstock refference by the writers, however Woodstock is so well documented and filmed that Geronimo Jackson should be mentioned in other Woodstock articals if they had realy existed.

Geronimo Jackson isn't a real band. It is made up for the show. Just like Drive Shaft is made up for the show. Just like Red Apple cigarettes is a fake brand of cigarettes Tarantino uses in all his films.

It's made up.

AGREED! I searcched my ass of and never, ever found any true to life band. On top of that, every find i did get just pointed me towards lost.

To anyone who owns the DVD season 2 set....

Quote
On the Season 2 DVDs, there is an Easter egg that can be seen when you register the DVD and keep pressing the "Left" button until a black vinyl album pops out.  If you then press "Enter", you'll see a close-up of the Geronimo Jackson album, "Magna Carta", which previously was difficult to view from the show.  Pressing "5" will run a short clip of the show's producer's discussing the history of the mythical band.

difinition of myth·i·cal
Pronunciation: 'mith-i-k&l
Variant(s): or myth·ic  /-ik/
Function: adjective
1 : based on or described in a myth especially as contrasted with history
2 usually mythical : existing only in the imagination

so if that doesn't prove it ISN'T a real band I dunno what will....

I was curious and put Geronimo Jackson into an anagram server.

The results were quite interesting. Theres more than enough words here to make many sentences. The word Ecko too...

Dun Dun dunn....
